Visiting the Placemaking in Zhushan Township-Introducing Technology into Community Development

Following the lecture on the Placemaking of New Silk Road-Zhushan Digital Township Project which was held by s.School in the last semester, this year, we are trying to move further forward.  We went to Zhushan with KuoTing Tsai, Shuhui Chen (both are teachers in the General Education Center), and 3 students to learn from the co-founder of Cultural and Creative Business in Zhushan Township, Mr. Peijun He and Mr. Junyu Huang. They have a thorough knowledge regarding the benefits of blockchain applied to social issues, as well as technology, cost and other issues.

Mr. He has also put forward his views on the University’s Social Responsibility (USR). He believes that universities should focus on educating and cultivating future talents, linking the exchanges between teachers and students in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools nearby. Therefore, our next generation can have a better understanding and imagination of higher education. Above all, the most important education is on humanity, personality instead of only professional knowledge.

And Mr. Huang Junyu, who focuses on technical aspects, said that the technology adopted in the community can use the CAP theorem (consistency, availability, partition fault tolerance) to measure while the virtual currency on the market nowadays may not be suitable for small towns.

They also use the blockchain mechanism to recognize the places where help is needed, and at the same time attract suitable external talents to help local problems. Teachers and students and Cultural and Creative Business all gained a lot of valuable experience through this visiting.
