At the beginning of 2021, the s.School launched a new project which is to teach overseas Chinese online with our long-term partner, the Cambodia Taiwan  Education Program (CTEP) in Cambodia.

This project will last for 6 months, and a total of 80 Chinese teaching videos (10 minutes each) will be provided to CTEP’s teachers. Then they are required to do self-study three times a week, with homework each time (writing and speaking, uploaded in the form of jpg and mp3). They will be interacting with the s.School and have online video classes every two weeks. A certification will be awarded after the completion of the 6-month program.

This mode of online teaching is established and carried out smoothly through two weeks. “We have been working hard on promoting rural education, but mostly in English. This time, we are very grateful for being the partner of s.School, Feng Chia University, which provides online Chinese teaching courses. It is a pity that, during the pandemic, we can’t have Taiwan volunteers to be here in person and teach our children considering the hygiene and safety situation. The first online class on 6th Feb went better than expected, but still has room for improvement. We know that there will be a lot of challenges in the future but we will share our experiences with other organizations and work together. After all, two heads are better than one!” said the representative of CTEP.

s.School is also honored to be a part of this big program, and hopes this kind of meaningful education can be promoted to other countries.
