Innovative Courses, Competitions, Internships: Accumulating Experience and Continuous Learning | Feng Chia University Department of Finance Fang-Yu Chang
Developing an Interest in Financial Innovation Technology
During my six years at Feng Chia University, my interest in financial innovation technology began in my junior year when I started taking courses related to financial innovation in the department. For example, I took the "Innovative Services and User Analysis" course, which was a collaboration with the Digital Finance Department of Taishin Bank's New Payment Division. This course helped me understand the practical aspects of mobile payments and analyze the current digital currency and payment environment. Additionally, I took the "Robo-Advisory" course in collaboration with Alpha Investment Consulting, where we executed simple project designs for mobile payments and intelligent investment processes. Fintech not only helps the financial industry optimize internal processes and reduce costs but also provides the public with more convenient financial services.
When choosing my graduation project, I opted for an interdisciplinary project in collaboration with the Department of Information Engineering—Campus Currency. We brainstormed and collected relevant data to analyze the motivations of campus users. Since campus currency is built on blockchain technology, I also gained initial knowledge about blockchain.

Accumulating External Experience and Learning More Knowledge
In addition to taking finance courses at the university, during my senior year, my classmates and I formed a team to participate in an innovation competition based on campus currency. We planned an RPG campus mobile game as a tool to enhance positive behaviors among students and won first place in the 2021 National Fintech Campus Innovation Competition in the college group.
Next, I participated in the DIGI+ Talent interdisciplinary talent acceleration program. I was assigned to the Footwear & Recreation Technology Research Institute for six months, where I collaborated with footwear companies to develop "AI Intelligent Document Recognition and Invoice Processing Automation." Using Python programming for image recognition and UIPATH for RPA compilation, we improved the tedious daily accounting tasks of enterprises, reducing the time cost of data entry. This marked the beginning of my exposure to enterprise solutions.

My Master's Stage
During the summer of my master's program, I interned at Baojin Cloud International Fintech Company, becoming a member of the business marketing department. Most of the tasks during the internship were new to me, such as participating in customer support, competitive analysis reports, shooting independent product short videos, assisting in organizing competitions and award ceremonies.
During the internship, there was a program trading competition, which required understanding the code and logic of program trading strategies. I applied the knowledge from my master's courses, such as "Quantitative Asset Allocation," which happened to be a course that involved writing trading strategies in Python and conducting performance backtesting. This was very useful for resolving competition customer service issues and understanding related trading strategies, further confirming that having professional finance knowledge is the greatest advantage in the fintech industry.
